Nootrobox has received a lot of hype recently for creating a delivery nootropic stack that is multiple synergistic nootropic compounds in one pill. They also received $2 million from Andreessen Horowitz which only added to the media coverage. They currently offer RISE (their original stack), SPRINT, KADO-3, and YAWN. They list COAs (Certificates of Analysis) on all of their products, which is definitely a good thing and something that any buyer should require of all supplements they purchase.
YAWN is $13.50 at the time of publishing for ten capsules. This is a stack for falling asleep faster and getting better quality sleep containing Melatonin, Glycine, Magnesium Citrate, L-Theanine.
RISE is $44.10 for a month’s supply. RISE is their original product and they consider it the daily nootropic of the bunch. They claim, “the components in RISE have been shown to enhance memory, stamina, and resilience.” It contains Bacopa Monnieri, Rhodiola Rosea, and Alpha-GPC.
KADO-3 is $44.10 for a month’s supply. This is an Omega-3 stack containing Vitamin K1, Vitamin K2 (MK-7), Astaxanthin oil, Vitamin D3, Omega-3 (DHA), Omega-3 (EPA)
SPRINT is $35.10 for sixty capsules. SPRINT is an immediate energy stack which some compare to a theoretically less taxing version of Adderall, etc. It contains Caffeine, Theanine, B6, B12, Vinpocetine, L-Tyrosine.
Monthly shipments get a 10% discount over one-time orders.
They also now offer chewable coffee cubes.
A writer at theHustle.co spent four weeks taking RISE and wrote about his experiences. He used a number of cognitive testing websites to measure any improvements to his brain and also logged how it made him feel and work. Some of his scores improved subtlely while others remained unchanged, and he was left wondering if his scores improved because of the supplements or because of the repetition. He did seem to notice improved energy and mood, but also noted that after the initial excitement of taking the substances wore off he was left with a number of questions about if it was worth it. After the experience, he concluded:
If subtle results are the overall goal, I’d rather save the $50 a month and make small changes that will have the same effect as taking Nootrobox.
I have nothing negative to say about my experience on smart drugs other than it was almost no experience at all. If the placebo is the driving engine behind them, then I can think of other ways to kickstart my cognitive ability and keep the extra money in my pocket.
With a product like this it becomes hard to tell what online reviews are genuine and which ones may have a vested interest in promoting the product.
Reviews from Quora:
None of the Nootrobox supplements worked for me, and YAWN gave me the compete opposite results from what the product card advertised. Geoffrey Woo personally refunded my money after reading the below review of the Nootrobox products.
I am 64, and coming off an injury that kept me rather sedentary for the last two years. Prior to starting rise, I had some difficulty focusing early in the work day. I am three weeks in, taking one in the morning. The focus problems are gone, and if the amount of work I got through was x previously, it is now 1.4x.
Reddit user reflectsean:
I’ve actually used the full stack. I’ve been taking 3 products daily. So far absolutely no increase in cognition or motivation. However if you’re seeking a good mood stabilizer, I think it’s good for that. I am a believer in the science of nootropics, but after using Nootrobox I can tell you there’s still a long way to go before these products have any use to the average individual. Simply put, the product is no more effective than coffee and lasts just about as long.
Brain Wiz gave it a 4.6 and found:
RISE by Nootrobox is one of the most straightforward formulations on the market and includes only tried and tested ingredients. It’s popular among our testers for reducing brain fog and fighting stress.
In conclusion, the ingredients in the supplements are legit nootropics with some research behind them, but the price is the major issue. You also don’t have any fine control over the amount of each item you are taking. Individual users may find they need more or less of one nootropic compared to others in the same pill, which is why we have always preferred to take single ingredient pills or two ingredient in the case of things like caffeine + theanine. We do appreciate that unlike some nootropic stacks found on Amazon, etc. Nootrobox products aren’t 20 ingredients with trace amounts doing nothing just to look impressive.
We have linked the individual compounds above to online retailers where you can purchase them separately if you are interested. Obviously, you are paying a relatively heavy price for convenience, so if buying several pills or powders separately and administering them are too inconvenient then you could do worse than purchase from Nootrobox. The nootropic you are willing to take may well be better than the ones you don’t.
Decent products but cheaper to purchase individually
